Easy-to-Read Interactive Graphs
Easy-to-read, interactive graphs make it easy to see what causes spikes in energy use and when and where energy is being used.

Targeted Recommendations
- Know how much you have spent so far this month on electricity – before getting a bill.
- Find out where electricity has been “leaking” so the leaks can be plugged.
- Learn what steps can be taken to reduce electric bills by up to 25% or more.
Alerts by Text or E-Mail
- Receive alerts when your electric bill has passed a certain threshold.
- Be warned about overloaded circuits – before being left in the dark.
- Enhance your family’s safety by receiving alerts of potential dangers such as a circuit about to overload or a stove left on.
- Also receive alerts if your refrigerator, clothes dryer, or other appliance’s power usage suggests they are in need of maintenance to maximize their efficiency and cost savings.
Appliance Health & Performance Monitoring
One month your electrical bill spikes for no apparent reason. Or it seems to be gradually increasing while your rate remains the same. Why?
Chances are that right now there are hidden issues with one or more of your major appliances (refrigerator, dryer, dishwasher, air conditioner, water heater, etc.) that are causing it to waste hundreds of dollars a year in excess energy – but how would you know?
Cars are equipped with systems that notify us of issues that impact energy efficiency or performance, or that – if ignored – could lead to very expensive repairs.
But what similar system exists for your home?
Appliances use more energy both gradually as they age, and immediately when internal parts fail. These changes invisible to owner . . . until the bill comes! But because the sources are not easily identifiable waste continues – often for years – until the appliance finally breaks, needing expensive repair.
eMonitor recognizes unusual gradual usage changes to:
- Notify when user maintenance is required (e.g. clean your dryer's lint filter)
- Advise when replacing an old appliance will pay for itself
eMonitor recognizes unusual immediate usage changes to:
- Reveal hidden problems
- Avoid thousands of dollars in potentially wasted energy
- Avoid expensive repairs
Outlet Monitoring
Where even more detail is desired – for example where a specific device like a plasma TV shares a circuit with other devices – Smart Outlets can be added to monitor and manage them separately.
Smart Outlets can be controlled remotely (as needed or on a timer) from the eMonitor Dashboard or iPhone®/iPad® interface, and communicate with eMonitor wirelessly via ZigBee®.
Temperature Control
With the eMonitor Smart Thermostat, controlling temperature settings and costs will be easy and fun! Using the eMonitor Dashboard, users will be able to easily configure their preferred settings and see the cost implications of their choices in real time, empowering them to minimize costs without compromising comfort.
Going on vacation? Simply enter your departure and return dates and your home will be in vacation mode while you are away (which can include shutting off power to devices on Smart Outlets). And if you decide to stay away a few extra days, simply change your return time from your iPhone®, while at the beach, pool, or char lift, and eMonitor will make your home comfortable just in time for your return!
Smart Thermostats communicate with the eMonitor base unit wirelessly via ZigBee®.
Renewable Energy Monitoring/Carbon Footprint
Solar PV, wind, or solar hot water are only components of a home’s energy system – so why monitor only one piece of the puzzle?

The eMonitor tells owners of renewable systems:
- The amount of power being produced (kWh)
- The amount of power being used
- Where power is being used
- What can be done to reduce use and increase exports to the grid
- The amount of energy, carbon, and dollars their renewable system is saving
- The amount of energy and dollars they are shipping back to the grid when net-metering
The eMonitor also ensures renewable systems are producing the amount of power they should be, and notifies you (and your dealer) by text or e-mail f the system is producing less than it should be.
Integrated with Third-Party Systems
eMonitor integrates seamlessly with the following products and services:
